ANGELA WEISS/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Kristen Stewart is known for being a painfully shy movie star, but the actress admitted recently that her timidness has helped progress in her career.

“I think when I do stuff that really scares me, good things happen,” she admitted on Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I always feel like good stuff happens really fast or I’m really terrified. I’m thankful.”

Stewart, who was on the show to promote her latest film Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, also reflected on the last time she was on Ellen in 2011 to promote The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

The actress quipped that the first thing that comes to mind is “really uncomfortable hair extensions.”

“I feel like I’m looking at a college yearbook,” Stewart continued as she looked at a photo of her former cast members. “I don’t jump right back into those memories but as soon as you see a picture, you’re like, ‘Oh God, it’s like yesterday’ … and then maybe not.”

Still, Stewart said being thrust into the public eye did eventually help her kick her shyness.

“I was 17, 18, when it all went down and that was the most uncomfortable, terrible, weird thing. You’re, like, 17 years old, [and it’s like,] ‘Ahhh!'” she explained. “But at the same time it’s good. It kind of forced me to stand to attention in this way, which, who knows if I didn’t have that.”
