HooDoo Ski Area Opens Saturday

Santiam Pass, Ore. – Hoodoo Ski Area announced Thursday it will open Saturday with is Manzanita And Easy Rider chair lifts.

The chair lifts will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Ticket prices are $35 for the day.

Daidre Streeter, Hoodoo Ski Area office manager, said the resort will hold a canned food drive for The Giving Plate in Bend. Those who bring two cans of baby food or formula, soup, fruit, vegetables, pasta sauce, cake mixes or boxed meals will get a ticket for $20.

About 28 inches of snow are at the base. The last time Hoodoo opened this early was in 2005, Streeter said. Hoodoo at an elevation of 4,668 feet, opens by Thanksgiving only about two to three times per decade.

Hoodoo’s Big Green Machine, Red and Hodag chair lifts; Autobahn Tubing Park; and Nordic trails will be closed this week, according to the resort, but will open later in the season pending more snowfall.

Annual Rhubarb Festival
