The Bracero Program was a bilateral agreement between the United States and Mexico to import guest workers to alleviate labor shortages in agriculture during World War II. Dr. Mario Sifuentez, assistant professor at the University of California, Merced, will discuss the uniqueness of the program in the Pacific Northwest and examine how it set the pattern for future migration to Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
