“Keeping Calm with Cancer” – Free Classes this Month

January 10, 2019 - January 24, 2019

How do you keep calm when you’ve received a cancer diagnosis?  Cancer with Compassion, a local faith-based cancer support, is partnering with Holy Communion Church of Bend to offer free classes for cancer patients and survivors.  “Keeping Calm with Cancer” classes are designed to assist the newly diagnosed, those in treatment and survivors to adapt to life after a cancer diagnosis.

The first class will be held Thursday, January 10 at both 10 am and 6:30 pm to accommodate attendee schedules.   Another class will be held Thursday, January 24, again at both 10 am and 6:30 pm. Classes will be held at Holy Communion Church located at 1245 SE 3rd Street in Bend.  All classes are free.  Registration is preferred but drop-ins are welcome.  Register by emailing revcathie1952@gmail.com or by phone at 949.279.1246.  Interested persons may visit the Cancer with Compassion website at www.cancerwithcompassion.com.

Rev. Cathie Young, founder of Cancer with Compassion, will teach the classes which will also provide opportunity for question and answer, personal sharing and prayer for those who desire it.  Rev. Young is a longtime Christian minister and a cancer survivor. She established a successful Cancer with Compassion chapter in Southern California and after moving to Bend, began a chapter here.  She says, “My own cancer journey introduced me to the unique needs of cancer patients and survivors. We believe the Keeping Calm with Cancer series of classes will help meet some of those unique needs.  We welcome all to join us on January 10 and 24.”
