New Each Morning is offering its final “Fundamentals of Peer Support” 40-hour training for 2025 this November. This comprehensive program is designed to equip participants with the skills, ethics, and practical tools necessary to support individuals in recovery, thereby strengthening teams across treatment providers, recovery residences, shelters, justice partners, faith communities, and peer-run organizations.
Training Details:
– Dates: November 6, 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2025
– Times: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM each day
– Location: New Each Morning office, 1001 SW Disk Dr, Ste 101, Bend, OR
– Format: In-person, interactive learning with facilitators who have lived, complemented by daily guest presenters
– Cost: $495
Certification Requirements:
This training satisfies the Oregon Health Authority’s 40-hour requirement for Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification and meets the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon’s (MHACBO) requirements for Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification, provided participants have one year of sobriety. These certifications are specific to “Adult Addiction.”
Who Should Attend:
Individuals with lived experience in substance use recovery, recovery staff, volunteers, community health workers, faith community leaders, and allies ready to serve are encouraged to participate.
Learning Objectives:
– Core principles of peer support, including trauma-informed and person-centered practices
– Understanding boundaries, ethics, scope, and teamwork
– Basics of Motivational Interviewing for peers
– Cultural humility and collaboration with community partners
– Self-care, supervision, and career pathways in the recovery workforce
