The Route Up to 4 Peaks with Far Out West
The 4 Peaks Music Festival is kicking off an electrifying 2017 season with “The Route Up to 4 Peaks”, an ongoing concert series featuring a number of acts slated for appearance on this year’s lineup.
On Wednesday April 19, you can boogie down at The Astro Lounge with Far Out West, the newest and grooviest outfit out of Portland. This lady-led quartet weaves lively instrumental endeavors together with heartfelt, folk-inspired lyrics. With soulful vocals and electric guitar, the unique sound of electroacoustic mandolin, and a tight and cohesive rhythm section with electric bass and drums, Far Out West delivers a unique and energetic brand of rootsy funk that will keep your toes tapping and your fingers snapping.
The notion began in October 2016 when friends and bandmates Liz Chibucos and Chad Kimbler (The Student Loan Stringband) teamed up with Forest Carter (The Giraffe Dodgers) and Danny Lee (Brad Parsons Band). When two pairs of decade-long collaborators read each other musically, inspire one another, and bring different ideas to the table, the result is a project that molds a tight and unique sound with a spectrum of influences. In this vein, Far Out West brings a new perspective to American-born musical styles, playing and arranging in distinctive and creative ways.
