State Budget Town Hall Meeting Comes to Madras

Madras, Ore. – Central Oregonians will have an opportunity to provide input on the state’s budget on Saturday, as the Legislature’s joint Ways and Means Committee will be hosting a town hall-style public meeting in Madras.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and will be held at the performing arts center at Madras High School, located at 412 SE Buff St. The meeting in Madras is the only one scheduled in Central Oregon.

The meeting is one of seven scheduled meetings across the state, as the ways and means committee seeks input from Oregonians on how to address the state’s $1.8 billion budget shortfall. Most members of the 23-person committee are expected to be in attendance.

The committee will give a brief explanation of the budget situation before taking questions from the audience. Similar meetings in other parts of the state have drawn more than 300 people.
