Pine Mountain Fire Update: No Growth Overnight

wildfire_update

The Pine Mountain Fire had no growth overnight. Firefighters worked through the night to secure the fire perimeter. The fire is currently estimated at 2,866 acres and is 25% contained.

Today, firefighters will further fire suppression by securing the perimeter and increasing containment with mop up. The southern and northeastern edges of the fire, where tall timber vegetation is present, continue to hold pockets of heat. Mop up efforts will focus on these remaining threats to the line. Where containment has been established, firefighters continue with patrols for any changes in fire activity.

Resources assigned to the Pine Mountain Fire include five hotshot crews, four dozers, thirteen engines, eight water tenders and forty overhead personnel.

The Bureau of Land Management has issued an emergency temporary closure of public lands near the Pine Mountain Fire. The closure is intended to reduce conflicts with fire crews, support suppression operations and protect public safety and natural resources.
