ROSEBURG, OR – August 6, 2020 – The Wit’s End Fire was declared
controlled yesterday afternoon and the crew hiked out safely at the end of shift.
Two modules of Crew-3 will again hike into the location of the Wit’s End Fire
today to continue to monitor the fire and begin the process of equipment
recovery.
Late yesterday afternoon a smoke report was called in by East Division Wildland
Firefighters in the Diamond Lake Area. Firefighters were unable to locate the
smoke last night and will attempt to find it today.

31%2011:11:44) A cold front moving through the region today is bringing light rain
to the sections of the west side and will boost gusty westerly winds through the
Columbia River Gorge and east slopes of the Cascades. The threat of lightning
will mostly move out of the region today except for isolated wet thunderstorms
over northeast Washington. Expect a gradual warming trend beginning Friday
which will last through the middle of next week at least. Thunderstorm activity is
expected to be suppressed. Check your local NWS fire weather planning forecast
for more specific weather details.
The forest adjective fire danger rating class is HIGH with Public Use Restriction 1
remaining in effect.
