The Deschutes County Elections Office will begin mailing ballots for the May 19 primary election this week. If you are an active, registered voter in Deschutes County, you can expect to receive your ballot in the mail in early May.
As a reminder, the Democratic and Republican parties in Oregon hold closed primaries. That means only voters registered with one of those parties can vote in that party’s primary, so your ballot will not include candidates in other parties’ partisan contests.
Once you vote your ballot and sign you return envelope, you can return it by mail or place it in any secure, official ballot drop box. Drop boxes open at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 1 and close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
