The Redmond Police Department will go-live with Phase One of its Automated Photo Enforcement Traffic Program on May 15, 2026. This first go-live notification will start 30 days of warnings before citations will be issued to violators starting June 15, 2026.
Phase One includes six fixed cameras and one transportable unit at high-risk traffic locations across the City. Phase Two will include seven additional fixed cameras for speed and red-light photo enforcement at other high-risk locations in Redmond. The mobile unit will move around on a schedule determined by the Redmond Police Department with the first location identified as the 2000 block of SW Quartz Avenue.
After the 30-day warning period, the program will begin issuing citations for all violations. The fine amounts for each violation type are:
- RED LIGHT VIOLATION: $265
- FIXED SPEED (11MPH – 20MPH): $165.00
- FIXED SPEED (21MPH – 30MPH): $265.00
- FIXED SPEED (31MPH +): $440.00
- FIXED SPEED IN A SCHOOL ZONE: 2x the base fine amount
“The warning period gives the community time to get used to the new cameras and change dangerous driving behavior,” said Lt. Curtis Chambers. “Safety is our top priority for the city of Redmond, and this program will be another tool to ensure our roads are safer for all drivers and pedestrians.”

- Northbound & Southbound traffic at NW 6th Street/Maple Avenue
- Eastbound & Westbound traffic at NW Maple/NW 6th Street
Fixed camaras for fixed speed photo enforcement at the following locations:
- Northbound & Southbound traffic at 2900 block NW 10th Street
Transportable unit for fixed speed photo enforcement at the following location:
- Eastbound traffic at the 2000 block of SW Quartz Avenue
Phase Two (Expected Fall/Winter 2026) Includes:
(7) additional fixed cameras for redlight and speed photo enforcement, locations to be confirmed.
Photo enforcement is a tool to address the on-going traffic safety concerns in the City of Redmond. The purpose of the program is to assist in speed control, enhanced pedestrian crossings, and intersection control. The Redmond Police Department currently utilizes various other tools for traffic safety enforcement such as driver feedback signs, the Redmond Police Department radar trailer, street design, patrol enforcement, specialized traffic teams like the Central Oregon Multi-Agency Traffic Team, and High Visibility Enforcement details.
The cameras will capture images of vehicle license plates and send them through secure video. Law enforcement will verify the infraction before a fine is issued to the vehicle’s owner.
