Neff Road Improvements: Bend Info Booth May 27th

bend-17

The City of Bend is hosting a pre-construction information booth for Phase 1 of the Neff Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements Project. The community is invited to stop by the information booth on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, between 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., at 1462 NE Cushing Dr. in the Patio Area between Hablo Taco and Abe Capanna’s Pizza. This is a drop in style event to meet the project team and learn more about the improvements and construction schedule.

Phase 1 construction of the Neff Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements is expected to begin in early June 2026 through summer 2027, pending City Council approval. No full road closures are expected during the project construction. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Roadway shoulder work and temporary lane closures with flagging with minor delays are expected. Access to all businesses will be maintained throughout construction.

Improvements include a shared use path and sidewalk in-fill where possible on Neff Road from east of the Larkspur Trail to Eagle Road.

Neff Road connects to schools, parks, trails, medical facilities and more. Places that kids, parents, commuters and others in the City traveling east to west need to reach. Neff Road is identified on the GO Bond project list as one of the Citywide Key Routes to improve safe travel on a connected system for pedestrians and bicyclists including improvements that leverage existing bike/ped systems by providing protected and/or buffered bike lanes, connecting to existing or future Bend Park and Recreation District off street paths, and/or provide sidewalk infill.

Other project phases include the shared use path improvements on Neff Road west of the Larkspur Trail, the Hillside Trail improvements, and the Neighborhood Greenway on Norton Avenue between Sixth Street and 12th Street. These phases will be constructed by ODOT at a future date to be determined.
