Redmond Fire and Rescue were called to a fire at a duplex at 3132 SW Volcano Ave. Tuesday afternoon. First arriving units found a working garage fire in a small multi family duplex. After ensuring everyone was out of the structure and there was no immediate rescue needs, Firefighters made entry into the garage to knock the main body of the fire down, while secondary crews preformed interior searches looking for potential victims in both the fire occupancy and the adjacent duplex. Additional arriving firefighters made access into the attic from the exterior and stopped the remaining fire from causing further damage.

Extensive salvage and overhaul operations occurred over the next two hours. The duplex where the fire occurred is considered a total loss with fire, smoke and water damage while the second side of the duplex is relatively unscathed. The American Red Cross is helping assist the displaced residents and provide needed shelter and supplies. Bend Fire & Rescue was called to cover Redmond’s district while firefighting operations were ongoing.
