“The president’s executive actions will expand background checks…and what was the sickening response of Ted Cruz?” O’Malley asked. “Ted Cruz responded with a doctored photo depicting our president as a Nazi-esque soldiers coming for American’s guns.”
The former Maryland governor spoke about passing gun control legislation in his home state, drawing big applause when he spoke of bringing legislators from both parties together to pass a ban on combat assault weapons. “We didn’t interrupt a single hunter’s hunting privileges or hunting season,” O’Malley said. “In fact, I’ve never bet a self-respecting hunter who needed an AR-15 to down a deer.”
“Ted Cruz actually says that the answer to gun violence is more guns,” O’Malley added. “Senator, the answer to cancer is not more cancer. The answer to poverty is not more poverty. And the answer to gun violence isn’t more guns.”
