A Bend sport trainer and strength coach is going for two Guinness World Records this weekend, all to raise funds. Tammy Kovaluk will attempt to break the world record for most chest to ground burpees for a female. These records are something Tammy has been considering for over two years.

Last year she tested herself in a grueling 48 hour fitness challenge called the “Devils Double”, which she completed in less than 21 hours. The challenge involved 25 miles of running, 25 miles of rucking, 1400 pushups, 3100 abdominal crunches, one mile of burpee long jumps, and other tasks, finishing with carrying 2 buckets for a mile, weighing 35# each. She did that as a fundraiser for Harmony Farm Sanctuary and raised over $2300. After completing that challenge, she wondered what is next. So this year, Tammy is again raising money for Harmony by trying to break two world records for burpees.

The goal is to raise $6,001 between the burpee challenge and her company’s event, the RISE Ranch Challenge. Tammy will attempt to break the current records concurrently. The current records are 5,529 burpees for the 12 hour record and 5,555 for the 24 hour record. The goal is 6,001 burpees for the 12 hour record and 8,000 to 10,000 for the 24 hour record. The attempt will take place a Pony Pros in Tumalo, It is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. on June 5 and finish at 8:00 a.m. on June 6.

Kovaluk’s focus of her training is functional fitness. A previously competitive amateur boxer, cross country runner, triathlete (competing in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, 2009) and elite obstacle course racer, she currently trains for and competes in grueling ultra endurance events, and is the defending overall champion in the 36hr Ultimate SUCK and has won other similar events.
