Shevlin Park Fishing Pond Closed May 11-15

Bend Park and Recreation District is temporarily closing the Shevlin Park fishing pond adjacent to Aspen Hall May 11 to May 15.

The fishing pond will be temporarily closed for a maintenance project to manually pull weeds and plant material that has been growing in the pond over many years.

“The pond was last dredged in 2010 and that process resulted in significant damage to the bank area habitat, which we are preventing by hiring a service to use human-powered techniques to improve water quality while also preserving habitat and foliage along the water’s edge,” said Sasha Sulia, Park Services Director.

The water level will be lowered during the project, but the depth will not negatively impact the fish in the pond. During the project, the Shevlin Pond will be closed to all fishing activities. Signs are at the park to inform park visitors.
BPRD has other fishing opportunities. Learn more on the Fishing in Parks webpage.
