Forum Addresses Potential New Fire Codes

City Club of Central Oregon invites you to an upcoming forum to discuss the idea of new building and landscaping fire codes. Some of the worst wildfires in history occurred last year all along the U.S. west coast, causing loss of homes, lives, flora, and fauna.
“A downside to stricter code is the possibility of increased home costs in an area that is already struggling with affordable housing,” according to City Club CO.  “While this is very relevant, there has been little discussion about the longer-term socio-economic challenges of post-fire recovery if fire mitigation measures are not adopted.”
Ben Gordon, Executive Director of Central Oregon LandWatch will moderate the forum. Panelists include Nick Lelack, Deschutes County Community Development; Doug Green, Sisters/Camp Sherman; and Hayley Riach, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office
