Fire Damages Bend Home

Bend Firefighters responded to a fire to a townhome in Northwest Crossing Sunday. According to a media release: At 7:41 am on Sunday, May 10 2026, a garage fire was reported on NW Crossing Drive in Bend.  First arriving units found a working fire in the attached garage that had extended into the residence.  The home is one of five attached townhomes, while one other unit had minor damage from smoke and soot, four of the five townhomes are still habitable.  The residence where the fire originated was heavily damaged and is not occupiable.  The homeowner declined Red Cross assistance.  Damage is estimated at $500,000 to the structure, $75,000 contents, and $8,000 to a vehicle parked in front of the garage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

Shevlin Park Fishing Pond Closed May 11-15

Bend Park and Recreation District is temporarily closing the Shevlin Park fishing pond adjacent to Aspen Hall May 11 to May 15. The fishing pond will be temporarily closed for a maintenance project to manually pull weeds

Pine Mountain Fire 70% Contained Sunday

The Pine Mountain Fire is at 2,589 acres with a decrease in acreage due to mapping refinement following an infrared flight. The fire is 70% contained. Yesterday, firefighters declared the eastern edge of the fire perimeter, consisting
